- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour (270g)
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tbsp corn starch
- 1 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter melted and slightly cooled (170g)
- 1 cup light brown sugar packed (200g)
- 2/3 cup granulated sugar (133g)
- 2 large eggs room temperature
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (200g)
Step 1:
Preheat the oven to 180°C
Step 2:
Sift the flour, salt, baking soda, and corn starch in a medium bowl then whisk together and set aside.
Step 3:
Melt your butter over a low heat. Not crucial but for a toasted burnt butter flavour, let the butter melt until it turns brown
Step 4:
In a separate bowl, add in the melted butter, white and brown sugar, eggs and vanilla and whisk together until well combined
Step 5:
Add in the dry ingredients and mix until almost combined.
Step 6:
Add in your chocolate chips (set aside a few to add on top) and stir until just combined. Try not over mix your batter.
Step 7:
Line an 8x8 inch (20cm x 20cm) baking sheet with parchment paper and pour your batter in and spread out with a spatula as evenly as you can.
Step 8:
Baked for 35 minutes at 180°C
Step 9:
Allow them to cool before cutting into even squares or bars.
Optional: a sprinkle of sea salt for a contrasting flavour
